Published in Science is a DNA sequencing technology that reduces the cost of consumables and the overall sequencing process. According to the paper, the consumable costs are at least 10 times less than previous methods. The accuracy at 99% is also excellent.
This is a major advance as cheaper genome sequencing will allow for a better understanding of how genes affect health.
