Breast tissue regeneration trials in humans to begin after successful trials in pigs

An article in the Nov. 13, 2009 issue of the Daily Mail discusses how a team of doctors led by Phillip Marzella, successfully regeneration pig breast tissue.  The technique to be attempted in humans involves taking 5 ml of fat-derived stem cells and placing them underneath a woman’s skin in a breast shaped chamber.  The stem cells, if all works well, will turn into fat cells.  The procedure is expected to take at least six months.
